Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently published an update on Eddie Nketiah, that the player has now signed a new contract at the club until 2027. He added that there had been a verbal agreement between the player and the club several days ago and there should be official statement from the club soon.
There have been several interested clubs in the Premier League and in Germany. Before the start of the last season, there was discussions between the player and Crystal Palace, but a transfer fee could not be agreed between the two clubs. There was also solid interest from Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach and other teams in Germany. The player is said to have rejected these offers.
This is good news for the club. The player became first choice towards the back end of the season after many disappointing performances from Alexandre Lacazette. The player did not disappoint. Prior to this Arsenal seemed happy to let the player leave on a free at the end of the season, but his performances during the closing months of the season must have caused a change of mind at the club, prompting them to offer the player a new contract.
Arteta publicly spoke about the offer of a new contract to the player, but he and the club were not sure he would sign. His signature should mean that the club will be looking for one striker rather than two.
Losing a player developed by the club is always a difficult to accept, especially one that has the potential of Nketiah, so this is very good news for the club.
