Oleksandr Zinchenko is said to have left Manchester City training to fly to Orlando, where Arsebal are based, to have his medical and complete the transfer. The fee is £30m and additional £2m in add-ons. The player is expected to sign a four years contract.
Fabrizio Romano claims that the deal is already completed and the player has signed for four years
Though a midfielder, ZInchenko has proved himself a very able left back. Most of his games for Manchester City have been at left back. This will prove to be a very good signing for Arsenal. He will be able to fill in at left back. This will be important for the club because Kieran Tierney has not been able to complete a full season with injuries. The current backup, Nuno Tavares was inconsistent last season.
Negotiations between the two clubs seem to have gone smoothly and quickly. Zinchenko will be the second player that Arsenal will be signing from the Premier League champions. Mikel Arteta’s relationship with Manchester City and in particular Pep Guardiola may have contributed to the smooth negotiations. Having been coached by Arteta while at Manchester City, it should make his integration into the squad easier.
Several Manchester City players have already said their goodbyes, including Kyle Walker and coach Pep Guardiola.
ZInchenko will be Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer, making Arsenal the highest spenders in the Premier League. Arsenal are still believed to be after at least another player, a midfielder and are believed to be in discussions with Juventus about signing Artur Melo on loan.
