Arsenal went into the final day of the season knowing that they would finish the season as runners up. They players will no doubt be disappointed at how the final weeks of the season turned out. The players would have wanted to send the fans home happy and that is exactly what they did with a five-star performance.

Arsenal were playing well and Wolves were struggling. The team was not giving them any opportunities to string enough passes together. The way Arsenal were playing, the score was not going to remain 2-0. It was only a matter of time before Arsenal scored a third. The third goal came after 27 minutes, scored by Saka. It came from slick passing and quick ball movement between Trossard and captain Odegaard. Trossard pass went through to Bukayo Saka, who bent his shot into the corner of the Wolves net.
Wolves were safe it was expected that they would pout up a strong challenge and would want to end the season positively, but their performance gave the impression that the season had already ended in the minds of many of the players.
Arsenal continued to play well and create chances. Thomas Partey thought he had scored Arsenal’s fourth goal, but the goal was ruled out because of a foul by Ben White on Wolves keeper Sa. The first half ended 3-0 to Arsenal.
Arsenal started the second half looking for more goals, creating chances. The fourth goal did not come until thirteen minutes into the second half. Jesus headed home from a Trossard ball.
Wolves continued to struggle to get a foothold in the game. Arsenal increased the lead further through January signing Jakub Kiwior. The goal came after 79 minutes. A corner taken by Arsenal was not cleared effectively and the ball fell to Kiwior who drilled a shot, a shot that should have been saved by Sa. The Wolves keeper fumbled the ball and watched it go into the net.
With twelve minutes of regular time to go, Arsenal carried on searching for more goals, an could have scored again through substitute Eddie Nketiah. A cross by Reiss Nelson was met by Nketiah and was close to adding a 6th goal, but it wasn’t to be.
The game ended 5-0 to Arsenal. It was a fitting end to the season, a season that saw Arsenal challenge arguably the best ever team in the Premier League for the title, falling short only towards the end of the season. The big bonus for Arsenal is that they are back in the Champions League, meaning the club is able to attract a higher calibre of player that should enable the club to challenge for the Premier League again next season.
